Prince Escalus
Love should be banished. It may seem like it's a hell of a time, but slowly inside it kills you and others, literally and figuratively. I mean seriously, because of love a murder has been committed. Because Romeo married Juliet and showed up at the Capulet party that, Tybalt was outraged and challenged Romeo to a duel, and Romeo tried to truce. Then a friend of Romeo's, Mercutio, stepped up and was killed, leading to Romeo's need for vengeance, thus killing Tybalt.
Love is horrible it makes people do crazy things, like if you can't be with that one you "love." you will kill yourself Is love even real? You tell that person that you will die for them, but behind your back they might be cheating on you. Also you say you love them but then you see someone nicer and you question yourself if you even know what love is?
Now don't get me started on sex. Majority of crimes that are committed nowadays are sexually related. Men who are sexually deprived are usually the main perpetrators due to their built up testosterone. In my opinion sex should be a free service distributed among the commoners to be rid of the sexual assaults committed all over Verona, especially since it often leads to murder. Murder brings fear to the hearts of the citizens, and to have a perfectly functional city fear must not be allowed to rule over it's people.
He seems to really Hate love, i wonder if he himself has ever had a love that he lost which made him this way.
ReplyDeleteI think your interpretation on prince's perspective is incorrect. I think he doesn't like the feud between the two families, not love because he wants more peace and love In fair Verona
ReplyDeleteI don't think prince wants love to be banished, I think he wants the family's to love each other instead of fight.
ReplyDeleteI have never thought of what perspective prince escalus has about love; but from what I see here it seems like he really dislikes love. I however agree with my 2 peers above^^ that He maybe think love is bad but wants more peace. Not to completely banish it.
ReplyDeletei agree with everyone here but i think you did a great job, the post was well written and easy to read :)
ReplyDeleteNice post! It really sounds like it's Prince who's talking.
ReplyDeletesome of the part I can agree with Prince Escalus. Love is make people crazy and after that we don't know what they are going to next.
ReplyDeleteThe comments about the good and bad parts about love is exactly what Shakespeare is after. Your post has sparked a debate that is critical to the play… what are the variations of "love" in our lives? What consequences (both good AND bad) come from love? I think you are fine to have prince banish "love" but perhaps have him expire the good side too and then make his final decision. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Margarita the post was easy to read and was well written.
ReplyDeleteVery well detailed. I like how you did a good job interpreting Prince Escalus's personality to apply it as his opinion on love.
